My own TPPE Flat Rules (for fun)
« on: December 23, 2015, 08:24:17 AM »
Hello everyone! I'm Kevin Eontrainer and I'm new here :)
I hope we can all be friends!
So anyway, I'm a big fan of TPP especially Touhou Puppet Play Enhanced as my personal favourite. I've been looking for "competitive" PvP battle in TPP Enhanced everywhere and Thank Goodness I found this forum.
Tbh I'm also a competitive Pokemon player and I do know how fun it is to talk about metagames etc. But since I'm also a big fan of Touhou, I'd like to enjoy TPPE to the fullest
XD

So, I've been analyzing the game itself and I found a pretty much good way to make PvP battle become more even without the requiring an annoying amount of grinding. Therefore I made my own flat rules so that I can battle with my friend evenly. I also upload our battle videos on Youtube as well! Please check it out if U will :)
Here's the link to my videos: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLmbXD8tbjwsZi3pWxkE-Xhl4oFQitST51

You can read the rules in the video's description.

I'd like to know about which Boneka are the most preferred ones in TPP metagame?
I hope I can learn a lot from this forum:v
I would be glad to befriend with the other TPP fans and hopefully we can have a lot of fun :)
Thanks a lot, guys!

P.S: Sorry 4 the long post

Welcome!

Most of us don't actually think very highly of TPPE and prefer playing on Shoddy, which emulates core 1.8 mechanics in an environment without slide evolutions or a need for grinding. It's not quite as pretty as the GBA games, but team-building is considerably faster since there is no need to either grind or breed for IVs. There's a download link in this thread if you'd like to check it out: http://thpp.supersanctuary.net/forum/index.php?topic=7.0

Thanks you for your reply! I'll check it out as soon as possible.
But FYI, TPPE is actually pretty fun as well :v
Because U can get the experience of raising your boneka and EV train em from zero to hero.
Besides, Aichiya Sanae (the creator of TPPE) facilitates team building ver well.
U can instant hatch and egg, reset any boneka to lv.5 and reset all the EVs. GBA Emulator has save state feature and it surely simplify the team buliding significantly.

Well, i guess TPPE is quite different from "traditional" TPP in terms of competitive play because of Slide Evos.

TL:DR version

Most of those mon's are already absurdly difficult to manage even with a limited movepool (Dkaguya alone is responsible for 100% pjab use on every single mon that gets it).

Honestly while slide evo's are fun in a "lol rip game" sort of way, purple/unamed are the 1.8 hacks of choice around here and shoddy is just super easy to build on.

That said if you really like in game play with super brokemons there's always tpdp.

(To be fair, on the PC98 front...Yumeko is already perfect)

I actually DO play PPE and would love to have a match with you when i get around to restarting the game.
That said everyone here is right when it comes to Shoddy.

Also in addition to the viability thread, you should also look at the moveset subforum and/or ask how a certain Touhou should be used. Knowing a mon is good means nothing if you don't know HOW they're good, etc.

Actually Advent mons and Goth Alice can't slide evolve in PPE trust me I tried I don't remember Speed Sariel though but I'd imagine the same thing.
What do you mean my point contributes absolutely nothing it totally does, hush.

Please Help...  :rolldice:

Yup, in japanese TPP 1.8 it was a fanmade, "unofficial" patch (and TPPE is mostly translated japanese 1.8 + few unofficial patches like this one). Originaly only one puppet can slide between her Attack and Defense forms, and it is Tewi :V

IMO slide evolutions are the most convenient mechanic in the game. All puppets (or boneka in this case) have an even wider movepool. Its also prevent the player from being "regretful" after evolving his/her puppet into the wrong/unwanted form :v
Except fro advent and trade evos tho

I think Aichi chose to include Slide Evolutions because of the way FRLG is set up (you can't evolve into anything that has a dex entry higher than 150 i think. I tried hacking a CSara in on my first PT and she didn't evolve. I was painfully unamused). So he let you form change instead of forcing you to start a mon over.
i don't know why he does this instead of somehow enabling nat dex and letting you get shards and extra mons in the main game but w/e w/e

Thats true. Before U beat the league and obtain the World Artbook (national dex), U cant change forms... Except for Attack Keine IIRC. And yeah U can change form whenever U got bored or anything which is very convenient since Heart stones are purchasable for a rather cheap price. U can also reset your puppet as if it is newly hatched from an egg, so it will reset your puppet to lv.5, reset all the EVs, eliminates your held item (be sure to remove any held item be4 resetting), but the rest remained unhanged (Form, IVs I think, Moves stays). U can also rename it after resetting. This feature allows you to do flat battles.
