Need help to download in general

Alright so I'm new to this. I downloaded the newest Puppet Play (http://lkaexe.supersanctuary.net/thmnemer18/ to be exact) and when it downloaded, there was no exe or jar files.

Pokemon Emerald downloaded fine, and I'm able to play it, but... what do I do now?

I don't remember the specifics steps, but it's pretty straightforward work.

I click the thing to go patch it, but there's only one file in the downloads, and it's this anime face maker I downloaded.

EDIT: I just managed to patch it, I think, but it just says the files are damaged now.

Is the full file name thmnemer1812 oct-19c-2013.ips or thmnemer1812 oct-19c-2013.zip ?

Anyway, I'll send it to you via pm in 2 minutes (uploading). Make sure to have a extracting program like 7-zip though, that is apparently the case.

What do

You select a folder on the right menu (or click create new folder) > and hit Ok for it to extract. Ignore the options on the left.
Alternatively, you can right-click the .zip file, and click Extract here... , something along those lines, depends on what program you're using, so it extracts everything to the folder the file is located in.
Then you apply patch to the .ips file inside the Lunar IPS folder.
