But does anyone really own those original games? Also not many people seem to care about having to own the game first before playing the ROMs as what about ROM hacks?

I know torrenting is looked down apon but look at ROM hacks, nobody pays for those

Fan games should be free though as in the end the game is just pokemon with the sprites, music and story changed.......its pretty much a ROM hack but made from scratch like a lot of the pokemon rpgmaker games

The thing is that someone is gaining money by using somebody else's work.....it just seems scummy

What characters are you planning on putting in the hack? Also will it just be the same game but with touhou characters as pokemon? Will the story be different? Will there be post game stuff? Will the AI be unfair and spam items?

What's the long term goal with this ROM hack?
