I've been thinking about setting up an official discord server for the community. For those unfamiliar with Discord, it is a program similar to Skype and Ventrillo/Mumble/TeamSpeak. While it is still in development, it is vastly more stable than other alternatives out there (skype). It allows you to make a server, which can have multiple channels on that server dedicated to whatever purpose needed. It also has the ability to create different voice channels, so not everyone has to use the same voice chat if they want to discuss different topics.
I mostly bring this up because I've heard of at least two different communities over on Discord for the game - a generalized one, and the speedrunning community. I figured this might be a good way to get the communities to merge into one so it's not as splintered. Discord also feels somewhat easier to use than IRC in some regards, and is definitely more user friendly than Skype. The only real disadvantage to using Discord over IRC is that Fivequestionmarks, the channel bot, will not be on the server (also a lack of colors for text, but who knows, that could theoretically come in a future update).
This post is being made to gauge interest: Would you all want/use a Discord server if one was made and publicized to the community?
