Elis why do you have just as bad coverage despite being able to go mixed
Magan why are you a wall which I have little interest in
and here I was all jazzed about using Mima

Mima and Elis have STAB Hyper Beam off base 145 and 140 SAtk respectively, I wouldn't call them terrible. The former has STAB Shadow Ball to smack Ghosts that try to absorb it too.
Magan is pretty mediocre, although it at least has Gen 3 Explosion to let it be cool.

Yes, they have that, but it takes more than just one great move to make a pokemon -- or in this case, puppet -- great.
That STAB Hyper Beam is great, and those STAB shadow balls are monstrous, but when it comes right down to it, the coverage is absolutely abysmal, and to me that's kind of off-putting. On top of that, Mima and Elis can't power up with even Calm Mind, which would make me want to use either of them more.
Honestly if I wanted to use any of the trio I would probably aim at Magan for being a wall, since I need to get into that.

coverage isn't everything if you have two good stab moves to abuse, it's just nice to have at that point

if you're going to complain about mima complain about her low speed, she has pretty much everything else she could need aside from a 50% recovery move

Yeah I guess but it just feels like all that special attack is going to waste without coverage but then I'm the kind of guy who doesn't like to switch so that's my problem I GUESS
and yeah that speed ain't too great but it were on par with her other stats she'd probably be banned
