Drop Table
« on: October 05, 2015, 06:31:28 AM »
This is actually pretty old information but realized it hasn't been posted here at all.
For the actual drop table go here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1KJWqoHGioWYSYYVSC_P9sTvhcZx8OOPnDFqt3RwEwGg/edit#gid=0

Now for an explanation on how drops work.
  • Trainers always drop items while wilds have a 50% to drop an item.
  • You get a quantity equal to the number of puppets you fought in the battle.
  • Each puppet has 2 sets of items. If the puppet is equal to or below level 20 it will always choose set 1, over level 20 has a 50:50 chance to choose either set.
  • Should be obvious but after choosing the set the puppet will have a 20% chance to drop a Magical Fragment and an 80% chance to drop the "non" Magical Fragment item
  • For trainers with multiple puppets the puppet is chosen at random from all the puppets on their team

I believe that is all but tired while writing this so might have missed something.

Good to know. So killing chens is the best way to grind magical fragments. Cool.

Next time I ran out of them I'll go to mayohiga and do a cat genocide.

Also is incredible how most puppet will have magical fragment instead of better items on the second set

Any sights on things good to kill for raw money?

Ok did some simple formulas to find the average money gained from each puppet and then the average gain from each route.

Added in a new sheet on that document that has 3 tables (same info sorted differently) showing the average money gained per wild encounter assuming you fight all wilds you find. Also made a calculation to show your average chance to find a Magical Fragment from a wild encounter on each route. (All calculations include the fact that wilds have a 50% chance to not drop items)

From the looks of it the best place to grind for money is the Hakurei Mountain Caves at about 1605 (sell all) or 1570 (don't sell fragments) per encounter. It is also worth noting that the wilds at Kasen's House give 1304/1279 on average while also being the best wild encounter EXP grinding spot as well so you might just want to farm there.

As for farming Magical Fragments the best spot is Mayohiga with a 47.67% chance per encounter, though again worth noting that Yukari's House still has a 40.67% chance to drop per encounter while giving decent EXP as well.

For early game money grinding your best bet is the Myouren Graveyard (138 average) if you don't care about Fragments or Route 4 (108.8 average) if you don't want to sell your Fragments. Once you get to the SDM the labyrinth (651/604) there is a great grinding area and wont be outdone until you get to the hell of blazing fires or the road to chireiden which are the 2nd and 3rd best spots for money grinding respectively.

Also figured I should mention that grinding the Makai4 rematch fights might still (and probably is) a faster form of money regardless. Yuki gives 21880/21640 on average, Mai gives 31640/31400 on average, and Yumeko gives 25120/24880 on average and all of them have a 20% chance of giving 6 Magical Fragments. So if you are doing the usual fast exp farming each run will net you 78640/77920 which is about the equivalent of fighting 49 encounters in the Hakurei Cave and 60 encounters at Kasen's House.
