Translation project / Re: [1.34] Translation Release Thread
« on: June 12, 2015, 04:05:33 PM »
I can vouch that the patch works. Just got to the Human Village. Barring the occasional typo (which I should have print-screened), no real problems thus far.

ROM Hacks + General Discussion / Re: How do I obtain Dark Alice?
« on: June 03, 2015, 12:13:14 AM »
As far as I know, the original World Link shouldn't even have Swift Shards, so you're most likely playing World Link 1.8. There is a difference between World Link versions.

As for getting Dark Alice in WL 1.8, the only way you can get her is by trading Chibi Alice. You can do that via VBALink by trading with yourself and then trading back. Other than that, there's no other legitimate way of getting Dark Alice in that game (I don't think they have an in-game Alice trade). Same applies with trying to get Tenma and Sendai (not 100% sure, since they do have Chibi forms in that game).

Shoddy Touhoumon Info/Discussion / Re: Touhoudraft 2.0
« on: May 17, 2015, 02:06:59 PM »
Pretty sure this doesn't warrant a post, but I'll pass this time around (not like I'll be missed anyway). It'll be a busy time for me the next two weeks in any case. [inspoiler]See y'all in the Randomized Draft.[/inspoiler]

ROM Hacks + General Discussion / Vanilla 1.8 Level Curve
« on: May 13, 2015, 05:43:46 PM »
In the spirit of Twitch Plays Touhoumon and the lack of any major level guide for JP 1.8 hacks (and Enhanced), I found on the Japanese wiki a level guide (more like a cheat sheet because in the Japanese version it labeled the Puppet's weaknesses instead of its typing like I did here) and translated it into English. This sheet applies to Enhanced as well as it does to the Japanese version of 1.8. It doesn't apply to the Wind-Electric Patch since the hacker replaced the puppets on here from Misty onwards.

P.S. Regarding the Sealed Club Scenarios, those are part of a patch that, to my knowledge, was never translated into English. It's not in Enhanced either, so feel free to ignore it. I just included it for completionist purposes.

ROM Hacks + General Discussion / Re: Twitch Plays Touhoumon.
« on: May 13, 2015, 12:41:43 PM »
Morning update. Stuck in Yamame's fun zone! Not really ready for Surge's gym, but Tokiko seems to have won the evolution race.

Party as of posting this:
  • CSanae - Lv. 28
  • CMomiji - Lv. 13
  • CDaiyousei - Lv. 10
  • Tokiko - Lv. 29
  • CNazrin - Lv. 7
  • CStar - Lv. 7

Surge's levels range from 20 to 26. If they caught a CYuugi, she'll make short work of the gym being Lv. 29 in the wild for some reason (Dugtrio).

ROM Hacks + General Discussion / Re: Twitch Plays Touhoumon.

8:40 in the morning where I live. It's Misty Time! Hope they're ready for the Teeter Dance-off...

Party as of posting this:
  • CSanae - Lv. 23
  • CSatori - Lv. 11
  • CDaiyousei - Lv. 8
  • CTokiko - Lv. 20
  • CNazrin - Lv. 7
  • CStar - Lv. 6

For reference, Misty's CKomachi and SKomachi are Lv. 21 and Lv. 24, respectively.

EDIT: Defeated Misty around 5:15 PM EDT with a Lv. 26 CSanae, but got rid of Nature Power for Rain Dance in the process. Would've been nice for ASanae, but no National Dex = No Shard Evos until Postgame. Nature Power wouldn't be useful again anyway until Giovanni...or the S.S. Anne where there's a horde of CMurasa.

8:30 in the morning where I live. They've made it out the forest, but at their current level I doubt they'll make it past Brock.

Party as of posting this:
  • CSanae - Lv. 12
  • CNazrin - Lv. 2
  • CDaiyousei - Lv. 6
  • CTokiko - Lv. 8
  • CNazrin - Lv. 5
  • CStar - Lv. 6

For reference, Brock's CSuika and CYuugi are Lv. 15 and Lv. 17, respectively.

On a side note, the very first time I played Enhanced (which was the very first time I got into Touhoumon; Purple wasn't finished then and Unnamed wasn't even a thought), I ended up getting a full team and grinded them all to Lv. 15

I'm feeling a bit lazy, but I figured I'd post this so that I have an idea of what people think about the Yin-Yang Icons. Given how some code within the script needs to be altered to actually facilitate this, I'm heavily inclined not to do so, especially since I feel it's just a cosmetic change at best rather than something that heavily affects gameplay. Let me know your thoughts in the poll.

ROM Hacks + General Discussion / Re: Defense Momiji suggestions
« on: April 28, 2015, 01:05:48 PM »
In my opinion, unless you're using TMs or are near the Move Relearner (I'm assuming you're playing Purple), she doesn't have too many options. She'll get Tailwind in another two levels, but without the Relearner she'll be getting her strongest STAB moves rather late (On the Steel side, your only other options are Blade Flash, provided that you didn't delete it yet, and Cut...). It also depends on her Ability (one of which depends on Weather, another that could be useful if you make use of Rest) as well as her Nature.

You could always reset EVs, I suppose, but you may be better off with regular Momiji (or DKeine if you want a defensive Beast Type. At least that gets Intimidate).

Creative Conundrum / Re: Touhoumon: Random community edition!
« on: April 19, 2015, 10:46:19 PM »
I'd probably be down with making a Town Map / Region-making, but that'd probably depend on the game's Story / Plot.

With most of the attention being paid to TPDP and its eventual yet inevitable Translation, it's easy to forget that there are still some hackers that work on Touhou Puppet Play the rom-hack. One version in particular that caught my eye and eventually inspired me to work on Gaiden is the Kaze Denki Bunri patch (風タイプから電気を分離, currently at version 1.892), a Japanese Touhoumon hack that originally started with the separation of the Wind and Electric Types and has come to incorporate battle elements seen in the latest Pokémon games (save for a Fairy-type).

Since I believe that this version will never be translated, I figured I'd at least translate the documentation that the patch comes with, mainly to see what others have done for their games (and in the event someone would like to try the patch and not stumble through Moon Runes as much).

Wind Electric Separation Data ver. 1.892

The Spreadsheet Translation is pretty large; it includes the Moves Table, TM Compatibility, Level-Up / Egg Movesets, the "new" Type Chart, and Puppet Stats (includes Base Stats, Abilities, Evolution Tree, Effort Values, and Held Items). To save you the time of looking, you'll probably notice that the DDC characters are not present outside the Puppet Stats table, mainly because the hacker includes them in a separate text file that I don't feel like translating for the time being (I'll probably include it in a Pastebin later). Should an update occur later on, I'll be sure to include any changes, if any are made.

Update: There are some text files to take note of:

Fan-made hacks / Re: Touhoumon Gaiden [Status: Milestone 1.331]
« on: March 17, 2015, 11:00:00 PM »
So I've gotten back to work on Gaiden, and wouldn't you know it there are a few more issues that have cropped up from lack of playtesting. I'll be migrating my work to the latest Essentials, which is v15.1. Only problem is that so much has changed between v14 and v15. Not like this is really news at this point, but it'll take some more time to work on this (between migrating changes and getting used to the new code). Fortunately, I don't have much else to change, but I still have to add Shard Evolution movepools.

I plan to have Milestone 2 out by the end of the year.

EDIT: Rather than make a new post, I decided to amend this one. I've updated the Moves Table. I've gotten rid of moves that do not work AT ALL, as well as some redundant and out-of-place moves (Who the hell will learn Vice Grip?). If there are any moves that v15.1 did not fix that the Gen 6 Essentials add-on did fix (ala Trick Room, Ally Switch, proper Sucker Punch), I'll save it for the sequel (unless I get the drive to fix certain moves / abilities).

To save you the time of fishing through the first post, here is Moves Table V3.

Attack Nitori is missing 5 points from her Attack stat. It's 120 on Shoddy and Touhou Puppet Play Wiki but 125 everywhere else.

Link's not working on my end. Can you post it elsewhere? Like on Mediafire?

ROM Hacks + General Discussion / Re: What is TohoFes?
« on: March 02, 2015, 09:58:06 PM »
Some minor news regarding TohoFes:

The original developers not too long ago made a version of the game that is playable on Android Devices. The title of that game is 東方玉霊姫, or Touhou Rei-Hime (lit. Touhou Spirit Princess). I've yet to actually try it out, but from the reviews it seems pretty solid. Maybe there's an Android Developer among us who might be interested in translating it (I wish...)

Check it out here: http://www.tohofes.com/mobile/index.html

If you actually want to try it yourself, Click Here. Just remember that you need an Android device (something running the Android Operating System, like a phone or Tablet). As far as I'm aware, it's free of charge.
