Touhou Puppet Dance Performance / December 26th Broadcast
« on: December 23, 2015, 08:24:28 PM »
'Twas the morning after Christmas, and we've learned a few things about YnK (which is currently at ver. 1.009):
  • Youkai Mountain and the Shining Needle Castle are among the new points of interest, with equally new music.
  • The "Battle Frontier" (a.k.a. Gaiden+) is in the Human Village, where you need to fight five opponents in a row before you can bow out...or continue on if that's your thing. The last opponent will most likely have an Extra-styled Puppet. You also win 25 of something. Someone that knows Japanese, please translate.
  • Speed Clownpiece can sweep a team of Extra-styled Puppets, but maybe that's because...
  • Hemo Jajao is bad at competitive play.

Re-Broadcast Link:
Interesting stuff happens around 4:35.

To date, this was Hemo's 10th and final TPDP Broadcast prior to the release of Yume no Kakera. It's an exciting time to be alive, ladies and gentlemen...

Personally, I'd like to see someone make THE team that will outlast the entire Village Frontier, like that one team that someone made in XY for the Battle Chateau...

Touhou Puppet Dance Performance / Re: Onedrive Problems / Update Mirror
« on: December 18, 2015, 03:36:47 PM »
The Onedrive page seems to be working now (may have been down temporarily), but in the event it still doesn't work, use these link:

Update Mirror No. 1 (Mediafire)
Update Mirror No. 2 (Mirrorcreator)

The zip file has all three current update files, all of which are also in their own zip file (how it was in the Onedrive Link). Just be careful if you unzip them in non-JP locale, since their file names are all in Japanese.

I'll update these once Hemo's TPDP Expansion is released, but until then I hope this helps you and anyone else.

This just wouldn't stop gnawing on me, so I figured I'd put a little effort into it.

For what it's worth, I also have a version without Kogasa, but I figured this was too adorable to pass up.

Video's up. Refer to the OP for my thoughts.

Touhou Puppet Dance Performance / December 5th Broadcast

It's that time again, ladies and gentlemen.

To date, this is Hemo's 9th Major TPDP Broadcast, and his "second-to-last" broadcast before Comiket 89. I expected him to talk extensively about Hecatia, his (relatively new) waifu, alongside new BGM and a bunch of other stuff Hemo and his team will talk about that I probably didn't understand since I don't speak Japanese. Only one of the things I mentioned didn't happen.

You can view the relatively LQ video here:
Interesting stuff happens around 5:00 and 22:00. There's some new music to listen to between that time if you can stand looking at a still screen, though.

A High Quality version of the new Opening can be seen here:

I agree with Elyk. We should subtitle the OP this time. If there aren't any takers, I'll volunteer to teach myself to typeset for Christmas. It looks like I'll also need to re-design the logo for the DLC, too.

You could always stream TPDP Gaiden (Yuki's Side-Story) and see how far you can get there. As far as I know, no one wants to even touch it </exaggeration>. I even made some logos for it a while back.

Outside of TPDP, I've been playing through HDN Re;Birth1 for the first time (first Neptune experience). Lots of bullshit boss battles, but I'm having fun with it.

Touhou Puppet Dance Performance / October 10th Broadcast
« on: October 12, 2015, 12:45:44 AM »
Lots of talking. Not enough action. An hour-long broadcast with about 3 or 4 notable things:
  • Extra Style Debut
  • New Type, with the Type Chart updated to show its resistances and weaknesses, as well as what types resist it and what types are weak to it.
  • Summary Screen now displays EVs alongside the Puppet's actual stats and IVs.
  • Battle showing off Extra Style Puppets and the New Type's strongest moves.

Knowing Hemo (except not really), I believe it's safe to say there are more puppets with the new type and style than what the video showcases. How many there are, I have no idea.

The Video, if you have an hour to spare. I apologize in advance for the video's quality. Youtube forced me to downsize.

ROM Hacks + General Discussion / Re: Touhoumon Another World NuzLocke??
« on: September 21, 2015, 02:14:54 PM »
...I was looking around youtube and noticed that while there were some let's plays of some of the different versions I have never seen a NuzLocke of any of the games (I guess they are already difficult enough)...

I've seen a Nuzlocke of Enhanced and Purple done by the same person (I think it was TheDepressedEeyore).

I'd recommend you look at the game's level curve and to not do Another World blind if you are going to do a successful Nuzlocke challenge (although blind plays are more fun). If you haven't already, pay a visit to Agastya' Nitpick Zone ( to get a feel of what you're up against.

Enhanced is not as hard, but again, looking at its level curve, which I posted here on the forums (, also helps.

Fan-made hacks / Re: Touhoumon Gaiden [Milestone 1.331] [Abandoned]
« on: September 19, 2015, 02:32:49 PM »
June 4th Post:
While I personally don't notice it too much, it'd still feel weird to have male puppets show up at a 50% rate. Not to mention that if you did change that you'd have to alter things that deal with attract and whatnot.

If I ever get to changing the gender icons for v15 (or ask DerxwnaKapsyla to do it if he doesn't mind), I'll get to it. It does feel that something is missing after all (even if the change is really cosmetic at best).

On another note, was anyone going to eventually point out that Megashock on the Moves Table was listed as a MIASMA move instead of ELECTRIC? I made a few other changes that I didn't bother to document, but Moves Table v3.6 is up now. Hopefully I don't get any more ideas and stop fiddling with this table so that I can actually finish the game.

July 10th Post:
Rather than continue to double/triple post, I decided to include the previous post with this one. I've finalized all the moves that I plan to put into the game once and for all. I won't post the final version of the moves table just yet, however, since I want to post them together with the movesets, which I'm FINALLY getting to after all this time. To get an idea of where I'm at with those, I've made (by made, I mean I googled "ASCII Progress Bars" and found a decent looking one to post here) a progress bar with which I plan on updating on a daily basis. It's a lot of movesets to edit, but when I get ideas I can get a lot accomplished. I plan on having all of them done by the end of July. Once those are done, I can get a better idea of when I can finish Milestone 2, which will encompass all of Johto + some extra areas.

Moveset Progress (as of July 10th, 2015, 6:26 PM EDT)
9/550 (~1.64%)

September 19th Post:
Hey guys. It's been a couple of months. You're probably (or probably not) wondering what happened to all that progress. Some issues in Real-Life have caught me in a bind, so I haven't been making time to work on Gaiden AT ALL. Maybe I'll come back to it, someday. Maybe I won't...

If I never come back to work on this, I may be willing to put this project up for adoption (assuming someone out there is crazy enough to want to finish this game in my stead). Development is a lot of work, folks.

Bottom line: As of now, this is an abandoned project. I'm posting this for closure (because I hate when there's no news and you don't know what's going on).

In the unlikely event someone wants to continue where I left off, you can PM me or find me on IRC (#TPDP).

Of course, I'll be leaving the latest version online for people to play, but don't expect anything new...

ROM Hacks + General Discussion / Re: Jap touhomon 1.8
« on: August 13, 2015, 02:53:01 AM »
Oh okay, so this "touhoumon 1.8 enhanced" is it compatible or not with touhoumon purple for I to transfer my touhou's from one hack to another (I know this is possible with touhou world link and another world, also touhou purple and tohou 1.8 soft)(#VBA link)

also for the 1.8 soft translation hack I need the un translated hack of touhou from the site I previously mention but the problem with that is I cant apply the patch to my "clean (JP) Fire red " whenever I use the winips I get some sort of error also, all the patches/notes are a bundle of letters and symbols which don't make any sense so it comes with no instruction as far as i understand

As far as I know, there are some Puppets that are exclusive to Purple (e.g. Magic Stones) and some in Enhanced (e.g. VIVIT). There's also the fact that some puppets may not share the same Dex number between versions. The only real way to find out, in my opinion, is to experiment.

As for the Japanese IPS files, I find it easier to patch them when the computer is in Japanese locale or to  rename the IPS files in English.

Hope that helps.

Fan-made hacks / Re: Touhoumon Tweaked Version (Version 1.0 is out!)
« on: July 10, 2015, 02:27:39 PM »
Reusable TMs definitely takes the worry out of using up unique or otherwise very useful coverage moves. I say go for it.

...and if you really want to, make TMs one use only in Hard Mode. :)

Shoddy Touhoumon Info/Discussion / Re: Touhoudraft 2.0

Can we call this dead yet? Haven't seen any draft match-ups (or changes in the bracket on Challonge) lately.

Touhou Puppet Dance Performance / Re: Good strategy for *spoiler*
« on: June 28, 2015, 03:26:51 PM »
Dem IVs for Eirin, Youmu, and Flandre...

It would also help if you listed their movesets and held items. Type-boosting items can go a long way.

Personally, I stand by having coverage moves to handle puppets that you'd be otherwise weak against or have no answer to. Priority moves are also a thing if you're into Revenge Killing or taking things out that have boosts up, but this is coming from someone who hasn't reached the Makai Four yet.

EDIT: In regards to grinding, try grinding puppets one by one (as in, leave the ones you aren't grinding in the box; don't take them with you). I usually get more experience for them that way, even if it is a bit less safe and a bit more time-consuming.

« on: June 12, 2015, 06:34:45 PM »
1. Not quite a translation error, but Reimu's portrait is missing the first time you talk to her.

Exhibit A:

2. The Shinshu for Moriya is misspelt.

Exhibit B:

3. There was a typo I ran into this morning that misspelt adept (it was adpet). I can't remember where it was, and I don't feel like restarting to find it.

EDIT: 4. Slipstrike according to the wiki is listed as Overtake Strike in the game.
