Translation project / Re: Abilities
« on: January 01, 2015, 02:44:25 AM »
Line 321, Number 320:

Boundary Sickness's effect is incorrect. The ability actually doubles Focus Attack, Focus Defense, Spread Attack, and Spread Defense during weather. The ability does not alter speed in any way.
Whoops, fixed that one too.

Apparently the document wasn't editable. That has been enabled.

Too much fo rme check^^

But line 106, Number 105, it's not "triple" but "1.3 times" (1.3倍), according to "gn_dat3\doll\abilityAbilityData.csv"
You're right. I fixed it.

Here it is in Google Doc form: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HH77dJEjmIYRS-xqrQ-SGSpG5LUuk5ONcbAovtUb-5Y/edit?usp=sharing

Use this thread to point out anything that's wrong and/or argue about wording/names.

Yes, replacing the Japanese text with English text in the same files is sufficient. Make sure you keep the formatting consistent.

Files posted in this thread will not be enough to run the game.

Okay so now that the full version of the game is out it's time to begin the actual project.

The .arc files have already been dumped and you can get their contents HERE 7-zip
New stuff (updated as of 1.17)
To have your game use resources from these folders directly rename/remove your existing .arc files and then place the folders in the data folder where the .arc files were/are.

gn_dat1- Contains everything the game needs that isn't listed below.
gn_dat2- It's all music, we don't need to touch this.
gn_dat3- Contains data related to the puppets (skills, abilities, etc).

If you know Japanese and English, are good at editing images, or up for doing some gritty hex editing we're looking for your help.
More specific information on what needs to be translated as well as threads for different stuff will be appearing soon.

General plan -
Translate the images first to provide a navigable UI.
Translate the puppet names, attacks, and abilities.
Translate scripts.

Editing of the .exe should be held off on for now because it's expected that Hemo will update at least once within the next week or so. We don't want to do work there and then have to start over.

----- Derxwna below this line with stuff -----
We have a list of the things that specifically need translating, as well as what's already been translated that we ported over from the unfinished Demo Translation Project. Our goal is to get an interface translation out first. The actual dialogue within the game can wait. CSV files are text files I believe. Certain files will need to be hex edited. The list of things can be seen below:

* Everything the light touches needs translating here.

Keep in mind, if you DO decide to translate dialogue, there are text box limitations. While it will automatically line jump, it's best if you do it yourself for long words. For story related stuff, the text limit is 44 characters x 3 Lines. You may come across special characters while translating, these are essential to remember, so remember to use these:
  • \b - Line Break
  • \c - Clears the Text Box

Please use this thread only for posting translated assets. If you have translated discussion, make a separate thread about it.

We're going to have multiple threads now so use those instead of this one.

Like Derx said, it will cost 2000 JPY which is about 17 USD. I am looking into finding somebody that would be willing to translate the game for us. The patch itself will be free but will require that you have a copy of the game.

Have you tried extracting the game while your computer was in Japanese locale?

Web Trial is out.

The notes say that it is the same as the 1.01 version. They also say that it is very different from the final game and that save files will not carry over.

The reincarnation system seems really weird. At first while I was watching I didn't really like it but then I realized that it was basically breeding with less RNG. The ability change option is also really nice since it cuts down on the amount that you need to suffer to find that puppet with the perfect stats and the perfect ability. Basically another thing that removes some of Pokemon's RNG and in my opinion anything that cuts down on that is a good thing.

"Where's the progress???"

I'm currently working two jobs and I am a college senior with an overloaded credit schedule. This isn't that high on my priority list. I'm far from the ideal translator for this as well so it would be good if we could find somebody who is actually fluent in Japanese and get them on board and ready before the full release.

That said, I plan to finish what's left in the demo when I have the time available for it. By the time the full release comes out the semester will be over so I will have more free time and will help but I don't want my focus to be on translating the text.

What you can currently do to help-
SkillData.csv needs to have move descriptions be edited to account for word wrap. I have already edited them for consistency with terms used in Pokemon. The limitation of the box is 21 characters. Unfortunately \n doesn't work here and is just skipped over in execution. You can see an example of how the text needs to look raw on the description for Swallow Return.

Your help for testing would be greatly appreciated. Anyway here's an update.

We're still arguing over the names we're going to use for some of the status effects but I'd rather just post this for now and sort it out later than stall over it.

\doll\skill
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/57931749/SkillData.sbs

\item
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/57931749/ItemData.csv

What is left that matters?
1) Some remaining images in \doll\box and \item
2) Insertion of completed SkillData descriptions into the .csv from Google. Needs to be edited for word wrap issues (\n doesn't work here).
3) AbilityData.csv - Agastya said he was going to reword it and then nobody ever followed up on him.
4) Dialogue in \script\talk from the Cirno fight up to the end of the game. If you want numbers that means that approximately 20% of the text is left.
5) \script\dollOperator - About 50% complete (everything up through the Cirno fight). A bit of a pain since out of everything in the game they decided that the only thing worth giving extra encryption to was the nicknames of trainer puppets. The key is included in the files though.

Dialogue up to the Cirno fight has been translated. This includes the doll operators having the nicknames of their puppets changed to the English equivalent. I'll post the files after I finish the rest of the dialogue.

Okay so this should be most of the Japanese hex edited out.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/57931749/gn_enbu%20-%20Copy%20(9).exe

If you have been following this thread then you should only have attack names/descriptions, puppet names, dialogue, and a few random images left untranslated. If you run into any Japanese on menus or see anything that is wrong (whether grammatically or the translation makes no sense) it would be much appreciated if you could screen cap it for me.
