Touhou Puppet Dance Performance / Starting TPDP/YnK, need an opinion.

Good morning (it's morning here right now), guys. I discovered this forum in the first place because a friend of mine bought this game not too long ago and then showed it to me, telling me he found out about it from Reddit, how to buy it and that he could get me a copy of it. I decided to accept this offer, but then I notice there is Touhou Puppet Dance Performance and Yume no Kakera (which, as far as I know, is an extension of the last). What I wanted to is: Should I play TPDP first or start right away with YnK? YnK being an extension of the first game, should it be the same as TPDP, but with added content? Are they standalone by themselves?

I would appreciate any help. Thanks in advance!

I just started Purple, and the first thing I see is the quote "thank gods this isn't a Nuzlocke...", so... why not? There's an issue, tho: How do I do one? I know the basic stuff (Poke/Puppet gets KO'd, it's dead), but only that... I want to have the premises of a good Nuzlocke so I ask you guys, how can I make this a good Nuzlocke?

Note: IF this question is not suitable for this thread, I ask you to guide me to the right place so I can save my sorry ass from being warned in the first 3 days of being here. Thanks in advance!

Hmm. Maybe it's the base ROM you're using (a lot of GBA roms have craptastic intros added on by whoever dumped them that renders it incompatible with patches).
That said, pretty much every hack aside from three (World Link, Another World, and Marisa's Magical World) don't touch the header at all, so they should work perfectly fine as they'd just read the basic Pokemon configuration files. Does your config file have entries for the Pokemon games?

Thanks for answering! The issue is that I still don't know which of the hacks I want to play. I have already played and cleared World Link and Another World, which leaves Puppet Play Enhanced I guess... Also, I'm not clearly sure if there are new hacks or which are the popular ones, that was one of the points I wanted to ask you. About the header part, I did some google'ing and well, it seems like a header issue as you said, but I don't know how that works...

There's Purple by Agastya (Basically Pokemon Emerald), Unnamed by Doesnt (same as Fire Red, but has DDC cast and higher overall difficulty), Blue (also the same as Fire Red, but with more variety with regards to early-game wilds and few roadblocks), and Tweaked by Neotornado (more 1.5 based, but has a Physical/Special split and Fairy typing). Touhoumon Cirno is also a possibility. And that just about covers the noteworthy English variants. I can refer you to some Japanese ones as well, if you're interested...

All of them work on my PSP (although I use gPSP-mod instead of gPSP-J).

Oh wow I actually get to be helpful!

I don't know what version of what emulator you're using, but for me (GPSP-J) in the emulator's folder (same folder as the EBOOT file) there should be a text document called game_config, which is basically where the game takes info from based on the game's header.

I don't know what hack you're trying to play but the info in the document for Fire Red (which most hacks are based on) is

# Pokemon: Fire Red (E/U)
game_name = POKEMON FIRE
game_code = BPRE
vender_code = 01
idle_loop_eliminate_target = 080008c6
flash_rom_type = 128KB

Look in the document to see if its there, if it's not copypaste it somewhere into the document between entries.

If I may ask, which hack are you trying to run? I remember some of Aichi's hacks had custom headers that I had to put in manually (or rather just copypasteedit the appropriate Fire Red/Ruby/Emerald entry) that might be what's throwing you off.

Hi guys, I'm Seraphilux and I hail from Venezuela! I just joined today to these forums (mainly because I didn't know these existed, otherwise I would have joined sooner...) in search for a community to share my experiences of this game with other people and have fun (I hope...). Topic-wise, I want to play Touhoumon/TPP on my PSP, but it doesn't recognize the hack. I think it has to do something with the header... I have searched far and wide, but I only find outdated/broken links. It would be awesome if you could help me there! Thanks in advace.
