Creative Conundrum / Help me plan out my hack, please?
« on: October 02, 2014, 10:11:13 PM »
Currently, since my old Windows laptop broke, I have been working on a Mac and thus I don't have access to any of the programs for Pokemon rom hacking. I'm in the process of trying to dualboot my computer, but until then, I've been mostly working on my hack through designing movesets and the like.

I was wondering if any could give me any pointers on what I need to do for a hack. I have some general ideas but I don't want to forget anything. Here are the things I currently feel are essential to the hack:

- Replace Pokemon with puppets (with appropriate sprites, moves, stats, etc)
- Change encounters
- Change team lineups
- Change TM and other item descriptions

Here are some things I'd like to do in the future

- Change overworld sprites
- Change item pictures
- Change dialogue

Anything else I  should keep in mind?

Creative Conundrum / Unused Puppets
« on: September 22, 2014, 08:13:44 PM »
I've noticed there are a couple of 1.8 puppets with sprites that are still unused:

Advent Yuyuko
Advent Youmu
Advent Eirin
Kosuzu
Prismrivers
Technical Futo

I figure they could help add some more diversity to Shoddy. What do you guys think?

Creative Conundrum / Help with inserting Touhoumon
« on: September 09, 2014, 05:28:29 PM »
One problem that's getting in the way of me properly starting my hack is not being sure what slots to put my Touhoumon in. My hack is more based off of 1.5, but I find that its Pokedex is incredibly disorganized, and I would like to use something different than 1.8's Pokedex either. While I've mostly figured out dex numbers for the Touhoumons, I'm not sure what index numbers to put each of them in. Here are some problems.
  • Spinda and Unown's slots shouldn't be used because of graphical issues
  • Deoxys and Mew have loyalty problems if not captured the right way (I heard there was a hack to fix this, but I can't seem to find it now)
  • I'm not sure about how to change the location of certain special Pokemon - for example, if I want Genji to replace the Snorlax event, I'm not sure if I need to replace Snorlax's slot with Genji or if there's another way
  • I'm not sure how Fossils work and if I can get them to point to another Pokemon when you revive them
  • Also, moving a Pokemon's dex number doesn't affect anything, does it? For example, if I switch a random Pokemon with#151, it won't have any loyalty problems like Mew does, right?

Does anyone have any general advice for how to do this?

From my understanding, the website is a RPG based off of 1.8 mechanics. Does anyone else explain more?

Creative Conundrum / Types for TH14
« on: August 16, 2013, 04:17:05 AM »
I doubt Hemo is going to make sprites for TH14 anytime soon but just for fun, what would the stats for TH14 characters be?

Wakasagihime - Water
Sekibanki - Dark, Ghost, or Dark/Ghost
Kagerou Imaizumi - Beast or Beast/Dark
Benben/Yatsuhasi - Dream or Heart
Seija - Dark or Dark/Dream
Shinmyomaru - Dream
Raiko - Dream/Heart

They used to have a website, but it's disappeared.

I think they made some unique sprites for their game, and I would like to use them.

I guess no one cares, but I need to get this out somehow.

  • "Paipu isu" is not Pipe Ice - Because of this, I got search results for drugs, not chairs.
  • "PWJ Needle? - It's actually Persuasion Needle (Because Persuasion = Pasuweijion...only in Japanese
  • "Musan" doesn't refer to the proletariat or any other kind of political class. It means "dispersing" or "formless". Musansha (person lacking property, as in landless, not formless) actually refers to proletarian though.

Kogasa - Ghost
Ichirin - Normal/Fighting
Murasa - Ghost/Water
Shou - Electric/Rock
Byakuren - Psychic/Fighting (?)
Nue - Poison/Flying

=TD=
Kyouko - Normal
Yoshika - Poison
Seiga - Dark
Tojiko - Ghost/Electric
Futo - Fire/Water or maybe Normal/Fire
Miko - Normal/Psychic
Mamizou - Ground/Grass

For those of you not in the know, [Touhoumon](http://en.touhouwiki.net/wiki/Touhoumon) is a hack of the GBA Pokemon series based on the popular series Touhou. So instead of battling with Pokemon, you're battling with anime girls pretty much.

There have been many different kinds of Touhoumon hacks, but I figure there is still a little bit room left for my contribution. Coming from someone with a long history in competitive Pokemon battling, I want to create a game that is more challenging than the regular game. However, I also want to create a game that's balanced and does not require excessive grinding.

In general, these are my goals in list form:
*Having a fun game
*Making gameplay challenging and rewarding, yet balanced
*No excessive grinding
*Allows people to get and use a wide variety of Touhoumons, including just about every Touhou character from the first 15 years
*More refined move pools, base stats, typing, and TMs

What do you guys think?

One interesting thing that I noticed in Touhoumon 1.8 is the custom move animation for some attacks.

For example, here, Fury Attack has been replaced by Knives:

http://youtu.be/A4cvwfR1cb8?t=51s

Also, The World uses Kinesis's animation, but replaces the spoon with a watch:

http://youtu.be/A4cvwfR1cb8?t=30s

The problem is, I would like to bring these moves to a hack of Touhoumon 1.5, but I have no idea how to do so. All that I've found is the knives have been added onto the rom, but I have no idea where the watch is. Would anyone have any pointers on how to hack move animations?
