Touhou Puppet Dance Performance / Cheat Engine
« on: February 26, 2017, 11:47:04 AM »
Hi everyone,

I was playing around using Cheat Engine on the game (base + expansion + english patch), and I noticed that CE can't find the correct addresses for the items and money. For example: I wanted to get some Magical Fragments (because farming would be nice, but now with other drops and seems to be low chance), but for whatever reason I can't find the address. I tried searching base, added, decreased, changing values, some memory search...

I've also tried with money, which should be a more specific value, but nothing. Only thing that I managed to do was changing the experience gained after battle.

I can actually use Cheat Engine: I've used it before :)

So yeah: anyone knows what I'm doing wrong? I know that the game can be CE'd, since it states so in the wiki under Reincarnation.

Touhou Puppet Dance Performance / Windows 10?
« on: June 21, 2016, 12:38:07 PM »
I'll buy a brand new gaming PC in a few days, but I wonder if I should stay on Win 7 or upgrade to 10, so I'm researching all of my gaming library before I make a decision. Anyway:

I know that the developers said that the expansion runs on Win 10, but is this true? I won't need Locale Emulator because my PC will be already in Japanese locale, because other games (like Kamidori Alchemy Meister) don't like emulators at all.

Thanks in advance!

So, today I FINALLY decided to really start playing the expansion after months of starting and dropping it because of other things.

One thing is bugging me tough: what are the locations of the new puppets?

Also: are the other puppets locations changed? So far I'm in Myouran Temple, and didn't notice any changes. I presume that with new areas, something was changed in the wilds as well.

Last thing: is it me or the game is much easier compared to the base game? Or the levels are more balanced, without going sky-rocket...or I guess this was done because of new areas/quests.

Another thing unrelated: How cute are the puppets when they are following you? :3

EDIT: Fixed the title of the topic and fixed the post.

Touhou Puppet Dance Performance / Writing differences?
« on: February 28, 2016, 10:45:52 PM »
I think it's more appropriate if I ask this here rather than the Translation Project, so...

I was wondering why the names of the characters are written in both ways: when they speak, is wrote in complex Kanji or whatever is the name, while in battle/menus, they are written in Hiragana...Something about programming errors? I'm glad that the names are written in simple Hiragana/Katakana: helps me to learn a bit of the writing.

Also, it seems that Kikuri and Shingyoku are written in Romaji...error on my copy? (I don't have the english patch anymore).

Last question: it seems that Sukuna is written as Shinmyoumaru, which is the last name. Do you know why?

Translation project / Question about mixing things
« on: February 19, 2016, 06:23:55 PM »
I was wondering something: if I install the expansion on my english patched game, what happens? Does it work half English and half Japanese? (For skills manly) Or does it crash?

I'm really itching to play this, but the Japanese skills untranslated are holding me back...

Touhou Puppet Dance Performance / Elite 4 Rematch farming
« on: December 19, 2015, 07:41:55 PM »
Before I start, I want to ask: which farming spot is better between Elite 4 and Kasen's house? I mean in terms of EXP gain x give time. Meaning: which is faster?

I've spent the last 2 hours on figuring out a strategy to farm the Elite4 Rematch, and I'm pretty close. I can farm them with only 3 (AChen, PAya, PShinki) except versus Shinki, where I managed to beat her once. Otherwise, I lose against Shinki (Dat Shinkis in the last sentence). I generally use items during the battle, starting from Yumeko: That's another thing that I wanted to avoid, since it's a waste of time.

Of course, my PAya has Salvo + Twister, and the 5-hits earth move (can't remember the name).

A note: when I started, both my Aya and Shinki weren't at lv 100, and still managed to help me. Also, I had some lv 80s (PMokou, DKeine, SFlandre) which I occasionally used.

Now, I would like some suggestion on where I can fix things. Here are my notes, copied from my handy-dandy notepad:

YUKI

Use AChen:

SMokou - Waves of Earth
SFuto - Godspeed Air Raid
SSuwako   - Mist Fog
SUtsuho - Godspeed Air Raid
SYoumu -    Waves of Earth
SFlandre - Chrome Ray

Heal, because Chen should have a damage caused by Mokou's ability

MAI
Use Chen (my Aya now is almost 100. I have to try to start with her here).

SElis   - Waves of Earth
PNue (Camouflage as PRaiko)   Waves of Earth, finish with Godspeed Air Raid
PKasen - Godspeed Air Raid, she will resist and probably one-shot Chen. If that happens...

Switch with Aya
PKasen - Twister
DYuuka - Transcend Form
SRemilia -   Twister
PRaiko - Spirit Stone Jig

probably she can't take it. Switch with Shinki and finish things.

Heal

From here, is kinda random. My lv 80s (now 90s) help me out, and that's what I don't want. I want to beat all 4 with only 3 charas.

YUMEKO

Enemies weakness are (All CAPS mean a double weakness):

PSakuya - Fire Fighting Sound
PTenshi - Water Nature Fighting
SHijiri - Wind Illusion
PKokoro -  DARK
PMiko - Water Earth Dark Illusion
SYumeko - Fire Earth Fighting

Heal

SHINKI

Enemies weakness are (All CAPS mean a double weakness):

PMima - DARK
DYukari - Steel Illusion Sound <-- Tons of both Focus and Spread defense
PToyohime - ELECTRIC Poison
PYorihime - Fire Dark
PSariel - Steel Fighting
PShinki - Steel Illusion SOUND

Touhou Puppet Dance Performance / Questions
« on: November 12, 2015, 10:55:08 AM »
Hi everyone,

I decided to get this game, and surprisily, is the best Touhou Puppet Play I've ever played. It fixes some of the problems that Pokemon has, it brings some new things and most importantly, you finally explore Gensokyo!

But anyway, I have a couple of questions:

1- Style change: I understand that it can be done at will, but does it affect stat growth?
2- What does SP do? Is is eqivalent of PP from Pokèmon?
3- What is the purpose of colors? For example, my Shinki is "White".
4- About stats boost, is there a limit? Or I can just boost all to MAX?

BTW, I'm in Bamboo forest. Here's my team (Can't figure out how to use spoilers):

ROM Hacks + General Discussion / Defense Momiji suggestions
« on: April 28, 2015, 10:09:05 AM »
I created this topic because I thought it was not related to the other, but feel free to delete if you think otherwise.

Anyway, my Defense Momiji is now at lv 42, and she can't tank at all. It doesn't help that she has poor ATK and S.DEF.

I don't want to play PvP or anything (and for what I gathered Shoddy doesn't let you use your save), but I would like to see her die less. Right now my Attack Medicine can tank way more then her.

What I meant to ask was: does she becomes better? Because I look at what she's going to learn and...it seems kinda bad. I have revenge, but unless is supereffective, it doesn't damage at all.

First of all, hi everyone. I'm new here. I'm not a native english speaker, and I appreciate any grammar corrections and such.

So, I have some questions about Touhou Puppet Play, and I hope can I get some answers.

Question related to Touhou:

1- I don't consider myself a great gamer, even if I spend half my time on videogames (other is for anime/manga...sadly I have a very small job), and I freakin love this game franchise. But why there's isn't any room for beginners? (I'm talking about the main series) I know that the genre is Bullet Hell, or Danmaku, but I think that they should add a difficulty for people that are not good and want to play the game or are learning. Is the same problem I have with Dark Souls: I would like to play the game, but it's just so damn hard and sadistic.

2- Related to the first question: Why 90% of the fanmade games follow the rule: It's Touhou, it has to be hard? I know some exceptions to this offcourse: Touhou Pocket Wars, Touhoumon (not all of it) and Touhou Sky Arena.

Now, my questions about Puppet Play:

1- Are there roms similar to Touhoumon Puppet Emerald aka Purple? With similar I mean hacks that are good and polished, and not a general grindfest "because is Touhou duh". For the record, I tried only this and Achiya hacks.

2- Related to Agastya Emerald: Is it me or it is kinda frustrating sometimes? I'm replaying the game without turbo function and on my PSP, and had to grind to lv 20 for the museum event. But I gave myself 6 lucky eggs because grinding on Nature Puppets it's hell when they ALL know Stun Spore.

3- Not exactly a question but: I think that but I think Achiya should really gets help if he wants to continue creating hacks: grindfests, difficulty spikes, BS (ZReimu........And don't bring arguments like "Mirror Coat" XD)

I guess that's it. Puppet Play is awesome, and I really like playing it.

And my favourite characters are Shinki, Yukari, Flandre, Keine and Parsee.

Sorry if I'm being harsh or annoying, but I wanted to share my opinions ^_^
