Fan-made hacks / Re: Touhoumon Blue - Zeph's Edited Version

I did.
To be honest, I was about to contact you about your blog, but then never got around to it, because I'm a lazy butt.

Nice to see an update.
When 1.2 came out, I recommended someone your version for a potential futue Let's Play project, but suggested waiting for the next major update. Glad that finally happened after so long, already talked to that guy and he said he's still interested.

Now, where the ZUN script has been fixed, is there another way to get DCSuikas?
And will you in the next update getting around to fix that overlook about Satori line not being able to learn Counter, fixing sprites, that have no shadowing, despite hovering in mid-air, and revising the catch rate for CUnzan?
There was more, but to be honest, these are pretty much the only gripes I have with this hack at this point, and really, all I'm pointing out her is nitty-gritty stuff.

I'm looking forward future updates of yours, glad someone still bothers to create Touhoumon hacks. :)

I started to play your version of Touhoumon Blue recently again, and noticed something minor (the previous comments of other users here are much more valuable imo).

The move description of ''Black Wind'' says ''Eliminates all stat changes among all Touhou engaged in battle.''

But when using this attack in battle, it has a slight chance of boosting all your stats, except for accuracy and evasion.
I guess it's a custom move that uses ''Ancient Power'' as a base while its appearance looks like using ''Haze''.
In case that it actually DOES eliminate all kinds of stat changes, it seems rather redundant that it is also boosting your stats, while at the same time removing any positive and negative status conditions.

I'm fairly positive that it is just a wrong description for this move for DRumia to use (and maybe other Touhoumon that can learn this move).
Thought I'd point it out regardless.

I can see where you are coming from.
To be honest, what makes me worried the most are the glitches you've mentioned in the OP, especially the Pokedex one.
I was already thinking about asking around if anyone knows how to fix this, but meh... doubt anyone would help anyways, or be any help to begin with. :/

Darn, I should check out the shoddy chat more frequently then.
Have you come to a workaround or temporary fix for the time being?
Shanks told me on Youtube that it's really hard to mess with the AI, so I wonder if there can even be something done about the situation.

I guess I expressed myself a bit unclear.
You said:

''The postgame only has been edited to include the extended puppets on hard mode, so nobody uses any of the new puppets in the main patch.''

So, does that mean that ''extended puppets'' are not available in postgame using the normal version of the game?
Because that wouldn't be cool, bro. :/

Also pertaining your question, sorry that I can't help, but I'm busy with RL stuff.
I'm having good chances to finally start working and make my apprenticeship in a bakery, so I'm rather busy.
I haven't played Zeph's Touhoumon Blue version either since the time I've posted my findings and for the time being, I've gotten kinda bored from playing Touhoumon (though this happens occasionally, I'm always coming back to it sooner, or later), so I will be coming back to it soon-ish, I guess.
How far in your game is this specific thing you would like to point us out for you?
Since it's ''EX'', I guess relatively late.
I would have to start right from the start, so it would probably take a while anyways... sorry I can't lend you a hand here just now, it's bad timing on my end, I guess. :/

Btw, please make the puppets being used in the normal and hard mode versions equal to each other; you mentioned that some puppets will exclusively be present in the hard mode version of the game, but it would be nice to see the hacks being on par with each other, baring in mind that the hard mode version is just... well, harder, in terms of difficulty, but not puppet diversity.
Just a suggestion whatsoever. :)

Also, I had this random thought, not sure what you think about it, since it's your hack and stuff, but what would you think if marts are being revised to sell actually useful stuff and make the TM's that you can purchase in marts be placeable items scattered through the entire region?
For example, you could replace the TM slots at Celadon City Market with shards, assuming you intend to follow a similar concept like Touhoumon Purple.
If you happen to plan making an additional region like Aichi did (despite the... questionable quality of that region, let alone the route to get to it), placing the TM's from Celadon as placable items would make it easier and allow to not break things during main game (I guess some TM's might be a bit OP otherwise).

Then again, it wouldn't fulfill its purpose to be a tweaked version and would be more like a hack on its own, instead of something that is meant to be an improvement.
But maybe, my suggestions deliver you food for thought nontheless, can't hurt telling what's on your mind after all, right?
I don't know, just random ideas.
Keep up the good work, will be looking for the next update. Hopefully, you are able to eliminate some of the aforementioned glitches, especially the Pokedex one.

I'm actually the same, on one hand, I want to have a nice moveset for my party, but on the other one, it feels like a waste teaching a TM to a puppet.
If this was a Pokemon hack (focusing on Pokemon), I would say don't make it infinite uses, but since this is Touhoumon, teaching TM's infinitely will be incredibly useful and allow to set up your party more properly.

I'd say, try it out with reusable items for now; let's see how others will respond. :)

Dunno, probably got inspired from To Love Ru.

The fun thing is, I never even watched the show and actually heard lots of bad things about it.
But even now, I see a certain resemblance of her weapon and their tails.
Not that it matters anyways, I just think they look alike.

@Zak-something

I didn't know that.
Is the link you've posted official artwork?
Because, I always thought it was weird that she had holes in that thing, always thought it was some sort of tail, or something.
But assuming the link you provided is official artwork, wouldn't it make more sense to make two circular holes at both ends?
We just see the front side of her spear anyways, but it should reflect properly in that sprite, in my opinion.
As much as I like Touhoumon, some sprites look like utter shit - this one here not, but if I think back to the very first Touhoumon sprites, the chibi forms looked like they had a tumor in their head. :P

Anyways, thanks for the clarification.

Don't mention it Zeph, you're welcome. :)
I'm just glad people start making Touhoumon hacks again.
Hope someone will improve on World Link/Another World at a point, the glitches make these games literally unplayable to enjoy it properly. :/

Anyways, regarding what Bill/ZUN gave me when I gave him the Sake, I received a DCSuika on level 25 that knows the attacks Minimize, Thunderpunch, Mega Punch and Take Down.
These attacks are not exactly what your regular DCSuika would know when catching it in the wild, so I guess it was intended.
I just find it weird that there is an event for a puppet that you can perfectly catch in the wild, but oh well, I just thought I would point it out. :o

Also, there was something bugging me for quite a while now, in various Touhoumon hacks in general.
The front sprite of CFlandre has a sprite error;she's holding onto her tail, yet the tip of the tail itself has some black/grey  (depending on how one would shade it) missing in it.
Have you ever played Touhoumon Insane, for example and battled a cMarisa, or chose CMarisa as a starter and checked her stats?
She has a black dot in the lower-right corner that would always keep jumping with her, it was painfully annoying for me personally to watch this, for example. >_>
Well, I'm having an eye for details, though I'm not necessarily expecting you now to fix up sprites, but since you said that you will be taking a look into the sprites that are flying to be represented as flying puppets properly... well, I'd appreciate it if you would fix up CFlandre's front sprite as well. :)
See attachment for a screenshot showing you exactly what I mean.

Please don't forget to take a look into CSatori/Satori being able to learn ''Counter'' from that guy at the Celadon City market as well.
I mean, I know that it's just nitpicky making it possible to teach a puppet an attack it can already learn/relearn via that move relearner guy, but it would in itself make sense for her to be able to learn this attack by other means than level up; same goes for mirror coat, but if I remember correctly, there is no TM nor person in-game that could teach it to her, so if it's just availble through level-up, people wouldn't even notice that it can't be taught via TM's.

By the way, how does breeding work?
I was actually always confused with what can breed which Touhoumon, including incenses that will result in getting different puppets, when giving it as a hold item and then depositing your puppets in the pension.
What can breed how?
How do egg moves work?
Though this isn't really THAT important, I guess.
As long as it's perfectly possible to get your hands on all puppets at a point, I guess there isn't much to complain about.
So far, I'm enjoying playing the edited version of Touhoumon Blue, but I've taken a break from it around the time I posted here the last time.

Will be looking forward further updates of yours, keep up the good work. :)

Edit: Reading through the ''Wilds'' ReadMe, it says that CUnzan can't be caught in the eastern, but in the western district of the Safari Zone.
I know for sure that I encountered that CUnzan in the east district whatsoever.
Not sure if CUnzan can be caught in the west as well, but I never encountered a CNamazu in the east area of the Safari Zone - did you mix up the two, or did I simply not happen to run into a CUnzan in the west and a CNamazu in the east area and therefore think that you mixed the locations of where to encounter CUnzan and CNamazu in the Safari Zone?
Correct me if I'm wrong, it's not like I properly chekced in-game, I just noticed it while reading through your documents.

Oh, and regarding DCSuika, you can also catch her [inspoiler]in the oni tunnel[/inspoiler].
DCWriggle, DCMomiji and DCPatchy give me an ''AREA UNKNOWN'' whatsoever.
So, even there are event Touhoumon that can be freely caught... there was a missing dot in that DCSuika event though, as well as in her description in the Touhoudex.

Edit: On level 24, DCRumia learns ''Destiny Bond'', but a few DCRumia's from the Team Rocket grunts have this attack already even before they have reached level 24. Was this intended? Is it possible to get ''Destiny Bond'' as an egg move?
Because, if that's the case, then it would make sense, but I think the moveset of these enemies should be revised, if it's in theory not possible to use a move you couldn't have learned at that point - this should apply for enemies as well.

Edit 2: When catching a CAReisen, there is no description in the entry of the Touhoudex. I'm not sure if this puppet falls under this as well, but I know that there are numerous puppets that have no description, not even in the puppet list hosted in this forum here.
I was actually wondering what one could add to these entries, but I don't know enough about Touhou in general to come up with anything good.

Edit 3: Revising the probality to catch a CUnzan would be nice; even when throwing a bait, it instantly runs away - after using savestates.
When throwing a Safari Orb, the ball doesn't even move one bit - CUnzan escapes right away, and that after continuously reloading a savestate for like ten minutes.
Maybe making it more fair would do the trick.

Also, going down from Fuchsia City to the Undersea Cave, you can see some cut-off.
Well, to be more precise, go down when coming out of the warde house (the one with that bolder in the house that you can move via Strength), you can see the cave being cut off.

You can also use the bycycle in the house of the Move Deleter in Fuchsia City - I doubt this was intended.

And last, but not least, some of the NPC's in the Safari Zone have some typos.

Hmm, I'm not that far yet.
Currently on the route left from Lavender Town (skipped 2nd and 3rd badge, just because).
Why are, despite the physical/special split patch applied, moves like ''Thunder Wave'' or ''Confusion'' labeled falsely as physical moves?
I've just checked my entire team and all attacks of all of them have their attacks listed as ''physical'', even though there are attacks under them that are definitely of special nature.

For reference, my current Team:

CIku
Lvl: 21
Attacks: Shock Wave
              Thunder Wave
              Twister
              Spark

CSatori:
Lvl: 21
Attacks: Counter
              Mirror Coat
              Mimic
              Snatch

Reimu:
Lvl: 27
Attacks: Razor Wind
              Miko Charity
              Seal Needle
              Jump Kick

CReisen:
Lvl: 20
Attacks: Pound
              Double Team
              Confusion
              Confuse Ray

Fairy:
Lvl: 21
Attacks: Tackle
              Helping Hand
              Barrage
                   -

DCRumia:
Lvl: 20
Attacks: Bite
              Confusion
              Astonish
              Shadow Punch

... wait.
I just checked, and there seems to be a bug present in the physical/special split.
Apparently, when you check the moves outside of a battle, the moves are listed properly with their respective attributes.
Now if you are in a Trainer battle (and possible in a battle fighting wild Touhoumon as well) and check the attributes, ALL OF THEM appear to be of physical nature, even moves like Confusion, which are to 100% a special attack move.
I also noticed that the icons for physical/special attibutes, when switching in the menu to them, are being show slightly faster before the page actually moved to the description page of your attacks, but there is a good chance that this is just my laggy PC. :P

The issue about the physical/special attributes not being reflected properly during battle is still a thing though.

Edit: Oh, and aside from that, it would be cool if you could make sprites that are apparently flying actually hover in mid-air, like CTokiko or CRumia, for example.

Edit 2: Well, I just checked my box, and there, status moves and special moves are listed as physical moves as well (looked them up in the Pokemon Center in the town where Misty is.)
Going out of the box menu and checking the attacks of my current results in special/status attacks being mislabeled as physical moves as well, so it's not just limited to in-battle checking the stats and stuff.
Once I'm out of the Pokemon Center and check the status, it is normal again and the moves are being labeled properly again.
As soon as I enter the Pokemon Center, even checking my own team and not just the boxed Touhoumon, all attacks are being labeled as being physical again - what the heck?

Edit 3: Alright, why is it that I can't teach my Satori ''Counter'', if it knew ''Counter'' when I caught it as a CSatori?
Was this intended? It still seems rather weird that I can't teach it ''Counter'' from that guy in the Celadon City market.

Hey there, I'm new here.
It's nice to see you having added the Dark-Touhoumon into Blue like DCRumia, DCChen, DCMomiji etc..
I wanted to report though, that, unless you made it as an event, which I doubt, DCMomiji can NOT be caught in the wild.
Even checked the Tohodex, DCChen and DCRumia's locations are listed, DCMomiji's is not.
I might tell you more about it once I've progressed further, cool that you've picked it up and that Blue even said it was okay for you to edit his version.

Edit: Same with DCWriggle; the location is not listed in the Tohodex, gives me another ''AREA UNKNOWN''.
