So, I've recently acquired TPDP as my birthday just passed at the end of the previous month, and how to do the version updates is just going right over my head. I've got the files for 1.00 > 1.10, 1.10 > 1.20, and 1.20 > 1.34, as well as the partial English patch and the Beat program to put it in, but the update programs don't seem to do anything.
At first it would give me an error with something along the lines of being unreadable/unopenable. After doing the Japan location thing within the Control Panel, it actually runs the program, but then it just stays at this screen with no progress ever:

Since I can read moon runes, I have no idea what the issue is. When running the program, a pop up with a Yes/No option comes up, but both buttons lead to the same screen.
Any help?

You've already done your installation and everything right?
If that's outa the way then the patcher needs to be in the same folder your game is in (at least it needed to be that way for me).
Beyond that I'm about as fluent as a hippo reading hebrew with moonrunes, so I'm not much more help. I know you need to select Y which is just asking if you wanna run the update, but past that? I dunno lol.

Yeah, I can access and play the game itself no problem. Just obviously version 1.01 and pure Japanese. I threw all the update patcher .exes in the same folder as the gn_enbu launcher, but no dice.

Are you running these under native Japanese locale or using Locale Emulator with Japanese settings?
-
Might have to reinstall the game as that has been a problem for me in the past when new patches came out. Should just be able to reopen the Buddy DRM thing and redownload from there or just rerun the set up.
This is assuming you bought the game through Melonbooks though, I know some people have had problems getting the game to patch when getting it from other places.

I'm actually not sure what I used in the first place, but I used to be able to right-click on programs and Run with Japanese Locale, but recently trying to do that has made Windows pull up the "Choose what program to run this with" window despite the target being a .exe file.

That sounds like you were using Locale Emulator. Not sure how that affects things at all as I never used it.
If you want to try running your computer on Japanese Locale, http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/change-system-locale#1TC=windows-7
Don't know if that will fix your problem though.

That there is actually what I did when I downloaded the patchers, but to no avail. I'm gonna try re-acquiring the Locale Emulator anyways, because I think it might have been gotten discarded when I cleaned up my laptop recently.

No advice left? This is the only place I can figure that would be able to help let me play.
-
I am out of ideas if your locale is correct and you tried reinstalling the game after switching to Japanese locale.
Only other thing I can think of is if you have a pirated version of the game they sometimes don't work with the patcher depending where you got it but I have no experience with anything other then the version you buy off melonbooks so if that is the case then not sure.

It's a legit copy, as that's where my birthday money went to. =c

What's your operating system?

What's your operating system?
Vista, sadly. I'd love to upgrade, but I'm an old man with no source of income.
