First up: Teams. Which would be a better starter/Doll to use as the start of a competative team; Momiji, Ran, Chen, Nazrin, Koishi, Remilia, Flandre, Sakuya, Shikeiki, Nue, Seija, or Yukari(Ironically, she's last). I'd perfer it to be among the first 3 since they're among my favorite characters, but I'm open for suggestions. I'm also looking for dolls in the list above to be part of my first competative team.
Secondly: ho duu u cheet en-jin? Not just for this game, but Puppet Play also. There's a few Items I want copies of for competitive play(like lefties) in Dance Performance, and I've always wanted to break Puppet Play wide open(I WANT ME THAT LATIOS.).
And lastly, installation and patching. After reading how to do so on a separate thread, I cant say I quite get it. That's why I might start it soon. I'd appreciate any help you guys have to offer(and videos).
ps: This may not be the place to say this but... when I try to run Shoddy there is no executable. Its just a folder with a bunch of other folders and CLASS files.

Well for starters this game isn't puppet play and doesn't have a shoddy server (at least that I am aware of).
Chen is amazing at beating the game but rather narrow for competitive, though not ineffective with its Niche Wind+Earth stab (imo the best offensive type combo in the game). Momiji actually has a lot of potential with her respectable attack stat and Gale Form 80 power priority. Really most things in this game are viable in competitive as the overall game is far more balanced then any other game I have seen using a pokemonish system. Sure some things are a bit stronger in certain areas but the gap between super high tier and low tier is very small and generally everything is limited enough that there is a niche role for nearly every puppet at least in some way.
Getting items in this game really is not all that hard to do legit as you will naturally farm up a ton of money while training your team and there is not a whole lot you will need to spend it on other then competitive items in the post game. Though if you do want to be lazy I recommend using the built in tutorial for cheat engine as that will give you a decent idea of how the program works. The game is pretty simple to hack as there isn't anything put in place to stop you other then a check for online battles to make sure your puppets can possibly exist (so no hacking 64 PP in every stat). Can't really say too much about using cheat engine myself though as I mostly use it for watching values for speedrun routing and not for hacking.

Also worth adding that Chen and Nazrin appear very very very early on in the game (much like in the other puppet play games), so if you want, pick something that appears later on and just catch those two. Dunno what kind of team you'd want to build but basically anything works as long as you pair them with good support. Remilia soaks up a lot of exp but she's a very capable sweeper and'll do you well for the story if you feel like using her. Same with Flan.
With the way endgame competitive team building works, it's better to start from scratch with your puppets anyway. The team I used is just sitting in my box at lvl 100, while I'm off rebirthing the junk puppets I caught through the story into 6 IV monsters.
Pick stuff you like!

Hm, guess I'm gonna have to ask around the Shoddy threads for help then.
@Greenmittenz If money is as non-issue as you say, then I shouldn't even worry about the items, huh? But I read that Lefties is a one time get- like in X&Y. Also, does Momiji get a swords dance variant? Her SD priority sweep in Puppet Play was/is amazing. Was it excluded in Dance Performance for the sake of balancing?
@Prism Yeah, having seperate in-game and competative teams makes sense, I just like to start early on that stuff.
Thanks for the input so far guys. I'm starting to lean more towards Momiji, Ran, Seija, Remilia, and Flan. When is the soonest I could get these 5(I like to have my starter in my competitive team)?
ps: The kind of team I plan on making: 2 walls(one support, one to soak up damage and drop debuffs/ailments), 2 mixed attackers(to either clean up what my sweeper left behind or as a neutral choice), one for anti-setup, and the speedy/priority sweeper(in Puppet Play this was Momiji's job. Didn't even need a whole team for the elite four, lol). Also, is there a good HM whore(I feel REAL bad for saying that for some reason...) or is there no such mechanic in the game?

You can get both Remilia and Flandre -fairly- early on, and I can't recall exactly when you get Seiga, but I know Momiji and Ran are just a bit after when you'd be able to get the first two I mentioned.
As for HM-whores, as I was so happy to find out, those aren't a thing in this game.

Both Seija AND Seiga appear pretty early on as well. Earlier than the Scarlet Devil cast.
An NPC after the end of the main story sells all the battle hold items, except for Layla's Amulet which just reduces wild encounters. I can confirm this includes Food Rations (Leftovers).
MomijiS gets the game's equivalent of Dragon Dance for her last move. If you wish to know more about the various puppets in the game, check out the excel spreadsheet Greenmittenz whipped up (http://thpp.supersanctuary.net/forum/index.php?topic=496.0), it's incredibly thorough.
Since the base system and all the stats, moves, and movesets have changed quite a bit, you might not get much out of the Shoddy people. I dunno how experienced they are on the TPDP stuff. If you want, you can always make a thread in the competitive meta section of this forum and get people to give your team a look-over. I'm still experimenting with different puppets myself.

I can walk ya through using CE to get multiple of one item, it's actually really simple...

BUT to help you with either of these, just do me a flavor and add me on Skype. It'd be a hell of a lot easier if you just screen share the instal process, and I walk ya through it that way ya know? CrucialTwinz (if the signature wasn't obvious enough)

Earliest you can get each of the puppets
Seija, Route 4 at 10.67% encounter rate. About 1/4th of the way through the game.
Remilia, Scarlet Devil Mansion at 10% encounter rate. About 1/3rd of the way through the game.
Flan, Scarlet Devil Mansion at 3.33% encounter rate. About 1/3rd of the way through the game.
Momiji, Youkai Mountain West at 20% encounter rate. A bit under 1/2 way through the game.
Ran, Mayohiga at 11.67% encounter rate. A bit over 1/2 way through the game.
Also fun fact, Flandre is the rarest encounter in the game as the only other thing with a 3.33% encounter rate is Sariel, but Sariel can also be found in a post game area at a 10% encounter rate.
Also seeing as someone mentioned the excel sheet I made figured I would post a bit of an update. Thanks to help from Dabomstew I now have the correct damage formula and just need a bit of information on how certain moves work for it to be completed and correct. Also added experience calculators and some other neat stuff. If I ever stop being lazy I will finish it up and post the newer version. Also I want to add information on all of the maps including the pictures (which I have the ability to do) as there are some crazy things such as extra rooms in the Scarlet Devil Mansion that are not access-able in game, much to my dismay as there is a Prismatic Candy hidden in one of those rooms.

Your guys are helping out a lot. Seriously, between the information you guy are giving and the resources(Greenmittenz chart), I already have a general Idea of how I want to go about the game's story and competitive scene.
That said: @CrucialTwinz I'd appreciate it if you helped me with that, but I don't have a Skype setup yet(though its a built in app on my laptop) so II'd have to set it up first. Also, I got my first job only a little while ago and am still waiting on my debit card to be delivered, so I can't get the game just yet(not too sure if I wanna run a pirated version for multiple reasons). I'd appreciate it if we could hold off on that for a bit.
@everyone Now I'm debating between Momiji and Ran, and at this point its more like "Amaterasu or Tamammo". Honestly, its which ever one has the best sweeping setup/execution(Momiji's priority sweepage is looking pretty nice right now).

RanP is a higher cost which means she has higher base stat total but grows slower. She gets this game's equivalent of Moxie and has great focus attack and speed if you go power style. She gets Agility and Flame Charge, and she also resists 6 types and is weak to 4, which means you can switch in on stuff fairly safely.
MomijiS is somewhat similar if you go speed style, but ends up with 25 lower base focus attack than RanP. She can turn her myriad of void type attacks into wind type attacks, which she doesn't get STAB for, but Wind type is far better for coverage than Void, so that improves Returning Swallow a bit. She won't get a swords dance level boost in one turn, though, so you might be better off taking your chances with a dragon dance and just using her raw speed and some higher power moves. Killing Bite has a base power of 70 and always crits, so along with STAB it'll hurt a lot.
Which to choose? Hard to say. I'd personally go with Ran because I prefer her stats, ability and typing, and if you revenge kill something with a flame charge (rising sun) that's pretty much a free dragon dance right there. But I haven't seen much of the meta yet to determine if that's actually going to be viable. Also her STAB moveset for focus tends not to rise over 100 base power (though it has increased crit rate), but moxie would probably take care of that.
